FOOD SAFETY PRODUCT RECALL
Personal message from Emma Killilea MD of Delicious Alchemy:
"As managing director of Delicious Alchemy and a sufferer of coeliac disease, I fully understand the importance and seriousness of the potential contamination of any gluten free product.
When I discovered that some of our products may have been contaminated, I took immediate action to prevent their further sale and distribution. I have also been in consultation with the Food Standards Agency who agree that product recall is the correct action in this situation.
I have created a Q&A on this subject if you want to understand more about the implications of this decision.
Just to assure you, I have gotten to the bottom of where the contamination took place and taken a number of steps to make sure that this will never happen again. I must apologise profusely to all of our customers for this situation. If anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us on 0114 2587796 from 9am-5.30pm and we will deal with your query."

DELICIOUS ALCHEMY CHAMPIONS COELIAC DISEASE DURING LORDS VISIT
Emma Killilea, Founding Director of Delicious Alchemy, found herself on a train to London this week – not for the bright lights and shopping but to visit the House of Lords!

Rubbing shoulders with celebrity guests including Dr Chris Steele and TV primetime chef, Phil Vickery, Emma, along with Coeliac UK, addressed MP’s with more serious concerns including the poor diagnosis of the disease and the need for support with associated illnesses, such as osteoporosis.
As someone with first-hand experience, Dr Chris Steele spoke of his diagnosis at the age of 65. Despite living with the condition all of his life Dr Steele only started suffering symptoms a few months ago. Upon diagnosis he was found to have osteoporosis, iron and vitamin B deficiencies, plus other more complicated symptoms.
Despite having a great day the matter in hand was serious and the team feel that they did all that they could to raise awareness and understanding of coeliac disease, working hard to get it on the agenda of MP’s throughout the country.
We are really excited to announce four further listings of Delicious Alchemy products in Waitrose stores nationwide!

Purely Oaty Gluten Free Fruity Nut Muesli 450g
Luxury Gluten Free Pecan and Cranberry Granola 300g (this product is oat free)
Oats are a great super food and help to keep you fuller for longer, something that is often a battle for people with coeliac disease.
As the first company to launch Gluten Free Oats back in August, we are really excited by the extension of the range.
Oats are now back on the menu for Booths Customers!

Tired of feeling hungry by mid morning because your breakfast was so unfulfilling? Suffer from gluten or wheat intolerance?
Fear not, Delicious Alchemy has had two products listed in Booths that may just be the answer to your breakfast breakdowns.
Booths has listed Delicious Alchemy Gluten Free Rolled Oats and Gluten Free Riceflake Porridge, which will both feature on the aisles from the first week in April.
Both products have an RRP of £2.99 and they should make life a little simpler for coeliac sufferers. We all know how difficult it is to find snacks when you’re on the go, so staying fuller for longer becomes a daily priority.
This is why we are so excited that we have been able to reintroduce oats, which are a super food, back into peoples' diets.
Although oats do not inherently contain gluten, they can be heavily contaminated both in the field and throughout the supply chain. Although removing the contamination is a lengthy process, the Delicious Alchemy product contains the lowest level of gluten possible, which is always below 20 parts per million, the forthcoming, lower legal standard for gluten free foods, coming into force in 2012.
We really hope that you enjoy the products and please do feedback with your thoughts and any ideas of how they can be used in tasty gluten free recipes.
Thanks and here’s to happier breakfasts!

Delicious Alchemy is honoured with a visit by HRH Sophie Countess of Wessex

On 29th October 2009 Delicious Alchemy hosted a visit by HRH Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
Delicious Alchemy came to her attention because of her interest in food allergies.

During the visit Emma Killilea, the Founder and Managing Director of Delicious Alchemy, showcased the company's product range with the Countess.
Emma also discussed her secret, award winning, ginger cake recipe with the Countess and relayed how she had to overcome the problem of it exploding in the oven on the eighth minute during development!
The Countess enjoyed a gluten free lunch before she headed back to London.
On her departure she was presented with a hamper full of Delicious Alchemy goodies and a posy.

Emma explains, "It was an honour to discuss the Delicious Alchemy product range with the Countess and to chat about why it is so important that people with dietary intolerances, allergies and coeliac disease have better access to tasty foods and ingredients, therefore making their lives easier and cooking family meals more manageable.”

She added: “Showing demonstrations of how we developed our ginger cakes to stop them exploding during cooking brought some humour to the day and I was able to explain how we have thankfully countered that problem.
A few days afterwards I received a letter from the Countess saying how much she had enjoyed the afternoon, which was very nice to hear”
